ENCARNAÇÃO APARTMENT
The search for essential space.
The project consisted on the renovation of an apartment located in a building integrated into an already consolidated modular and cooperative construction neighborhood, which still preserved the metrics and divisions of the original design.
The main premise was to make the most of the light provided by the height of the apartment, on the tenth floor, articulating it with new ways of inhabiting the space.
Of the three bedrooms that originally existed, two were kept, with a supporting closet introduced into the circulation area. The third bedroom area was integrated into the living space, which in turn found a fluid and direct connection with the kitchen. This connection, while respecting the structure of the building, made it possible to join two opposing façades and thus benefit from natural light from east to west, and to bring the spaces together in a more cohesive way.
The materials, colors and details thought out and chosen express a search for essentiality and clarity in every detail, valuing the view framed almost scenically in each space.
The search for the essential space - improving functionality, the quality of light and the contemporary experience of the interior - was the guiding thread of this architectural exercise.
